(This is a beginner’s
ride)
The
start time has changed to 4:30pm for the summer
(Winter start time 2:30pm)
Cycling is a sport that offers men and women the opportunity
to become physically fit. The purpose of creating a women only ride is
to fashion a comfortable environment for women to learn about cycling
from other women. Women will gain useful skills such as hill climbing,
cadence pedaling, downhill riding, shifting, etc. They will learn about
bike maintenance and care. The ride is a perfect place for women to develop
friendships and gain new riding buddies. It also encourages women to work
on their own individual health and fitness goals while learning to become
more confident on the bike in a relaxed, and non-threatening environment.
It is designed for beginner to low intermediate individuals with average
speeds of 11-14 miles per hour (It may exceed this on flat terrain). It
is a great place for women to learn how to ride in groups.
